Luke`s computing reflection

For my micro-bit project, I have created pong as my main code/program. The algorithms I have been using help me to get the result I want in terms of the program. One of the main sequences of code (an algorithm) is for the ball. It allows the ball to move around the screen of the micro-bit. It is a sequence that does not change, and reacts to the paddle hitting it. It then is programmed to bounce of the wall at the same angle as it entered it. This was quite hard to make as it required a lot of thinking to make the balls pattern regular. Some debugging was also involved to perfect this aspect. The other algorithms I use (principally) is the paddle, which only moves up and down on the Y axis. This was not very hard to create as it only required a few lines of code to get it working how I wanted, in conjunction with the two input buttons.

However, without a sequence, the code would carry out the tasks in the wrong order and so would not complete the set task properly. This was particularly hard in the whole of the ball tracking aspect. If the ball did not track properly on the X and Y axis, it would not be predictable as the game required. I had to logically rearrange the code a few times before I achieved the goal (the right ball movement) I needed.

The variable that I used (the main one) is the ball (the impression). This “ball” is a variable because it varies on the X and Y axis. If the paddle hits the ball at a certain point, then the ball has to react according and so VARY to the circumstances. The ball is the main aspect in this program and so crucial on the micro bit in this instance.

Loops, there are many different types such as “IF” and “WHEN,” and, more commonly just a never ending loop. The most prominent loop in my game is a WHEN loop. This loop being the ball and paddle encased in it. It basically says that when the ball passes the paddle onto the back wall, the game stops and reads “GAME OVER.” Without this loop, I would have to use a much more complex piece of code, and might not have been able to have the effect of the game over screen. The second loop is and if loop, and it happens when the ball hit the paddle. It basically says that “when ball hits paddle, bounce off.” It is also very important, but is not as complex or big as the other.

Functions are a piece of code that normally represents something. In my case, it is the paddle. It gives the paddle its features, such as its movement speed compared to the time of button press, and its size in terms of the diodes on the micro bit screen. It is again, crucial to the code, because without it the paddle would not be present and therefore the game would not function.

Luke Stringer – Photoshop Project on PhotoPeach

I think that this project went extremely well on my behalf because of the extreme detail that i went into in terms of each photo. But, this did limit me on the time side as I did not complete the project. it was very enjoyable, and i will hope to apply my knowledge on this subject later on in life.

AREA 51 by Luke S

Area 51 is a long disputed topic, it has been famously rumored that it has held and/is holding aliens. In this podcast we will discuss the topic and come to a conclusion. Area 51 is located in the southern portion of Nevada in the western United States, 83 miles, north-northwest of Las Vegas. Situated at its center, on the southern shore of Groom Lake, is a large military airfield. It has been a badly kept secret for decades. Although most people who look at this will conclude this is a load of trash, there is some proof in the matter.

Arguments for the existence of aliens at Area 51 do exist. For example, there is mostly unreliably, photo shopped images and fake sightings. Although most of the subject is trash, there is a semi reliable sighting which does sound real and believable. There are also lots of websites out there that are divided like this news paper article that is generally good proof for both of the sides of the argument.

For the against argument, there is a lot of material going for this because it is the most likely, because after all, if area 51 was a secret, then why do we know. The argument that area 51 exist, is undoubted true. This website provides us with 100%, legitimately true info, and it clearly states that area 51 clearly has nothing to do with.

For the conclusion, I believe that area 51 undoubtedly exists, but as for the aliens, definitely not.
